Sherry isn't getting any better. Monday they took THREE liters of fluid off of her. She's not eating, drinking or moving much. I really don't know where the fluid is coming from so if anyone knows or has an idea, please let me know. I'd greatly appreciate it. She was suppose to do chemo yesterday but she wasn't "white enough" (her white count was too low, she always says she isn't white enough lol) and her blood pressure was too low. They'll try again Friday. If this chemo doesn't do anything for her, then this is for sure it. End of the road. There is no more medicine they can give her. I have also volunteered myself to do probably one of the hardest things ever. If/when Sherry does pass, I will be making the call to all of her customers to let them know. Out of everyone (aside from Sherry) in the office, a high majority of them know me and usually call me to help them. I decided it would be better that they hear it from me then from one of the guys or in an email. After I told Brenda, Sherry's daughter/my office manager, it dawned on me that most of them will want to send something. Flowers, plants, food, whatever. Which is all well and fine. But Brenda's sister, Michelle, is horribly allergic to flowers. Plus, flowers eventually die, food gets eaten, plants are sometimes too much trouble then they're worth. So, donations came to mind. They last forever and could be the one donation that finds the cure. So I started to research different charities that her customers could donate to. Who knew how hard it would be to pick them? I've been researching them since Sunday morning and it was finally this afternoon that I've picked 3. One is www.pancan.org. It's the Pancreatic Cancer webpage and Pancreatic Cancer is what Sherry started out with. The 2nd one is www.wingscancerfoundation.org. It is the support group for the West Clinic here in Memphis and Sherry often went to different support groups. And the last one finally dawned on me earlier today. Sherry has diabetes and is insulin dependant. www.diabetes.org . There are so many different ones to choose from and I wanted to find ones that had something to do with Sherry. I'm not going to discourage them from donating to whatever they want, but I will let them know about these 3.
I'm praying that God gives me the strength to do this. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have...

I'm so glad you chose those charities. You're doing such a good job handling this, kiddo. -big hugs- They'll probably be taking her off of everything soon. At least I hope so. She'll be much more peaceful off of it. Like I said before, the chemo will probably kill her before the cancer does. I wish her doctors would take their God complexes and shove it up their asses. Do what's best for her and her family, dammit. False hope is good for nobody!
ReplyDeleteall the fluid is edema. I'm not really sure how to explain it except that it has something to do with hemodynamics and it has a crapload of causes. You might be able to google something that explains it pretty well though now that you have a name. That much edema is never a good sign though. Her heart will probably give out before too long if they can't get enough of it off of her.
